Other People’s Podcasts
We at SomaCow Media are voracious listeners. While we love the shows we work with, we also wanted to give credit where credit was due. The following independent content creations are some of our favorites, and we highly recommend them. If you are just getting into podcasting, you will find a lot of what is right in the industry in the following shows:
Redboy Podcast – This is just… Look, they have been doing podcasting almost as long as we have, and their show is technically older than SomaCow. Intelligent, subversive, humorous, Amy’s hot, Matt’s funny, they’re both wicked intelligent, and they live in corn. You want light but deep, lifestyle but broad-thinking, self-deprecating but high-quality? Get some. Get some. Get some. It’s what we listen to when we shut the hell up for a few minutes.
Escape Pod – Stephen Eley produces the definitive science fiction short story podcast. He’s building an empire over there, one episode at a time. Escape Pod lands some fantastic stories, and the quality and dedication of the voice over talents, Stephen included, really shows. Geoff’s personal favorite episode thus far is Edward Bear and the Very Long Walk.
Hardcore History - A fantastic voyage, a mystical recanting, an epic travel… Look, History can be dry, but this show goes so far to make it juicy. So moist, like yellow cake, but less crumbly. Dan makes no bones about it – he is not a history teacher. He is a rabid fan OF history, and his shows enlighten, entertain, and most importantly, involve the listener. Great content, but new episodes take a little while to appear. Patience is a virtue, but each show is definitely worth the wait.
Common Sense – Too often on our show, we get wrapped up into a right versus left mentality. Dan suffers from no such difficulty, as he frequently argues with himself, straight down the middle of what is prudent. It’s better commentary on the news of today, and the opinion of reason, than you will ever find hiding on CNN or FOX news channels. Tune in, and realize how much you have been painfully ignorant of.
